About Me

cropped-Erik2.jpgHi! I’m Erik Johnson. Since 1977 I’ve been helping couples resolve conflict and achieve harmony, stability, and spirituality. My mission is inspired by the words, “Blessed are the peace makers.” I’m a certified mediator with the Washington Mediation Association and certified counselor with the Washington State Department of Health. Eighteen years of full time family conflict mediation have given me the practical experience necessary to work with couples embroiled in many kinds of disputes. I hold degrees from the University of Washington (BA) and Regent College, Vancouver BC (MCS), have coached others on relationships for over 30 years, and was happily married in 1977. My wife Vicki and I raised five happy and healthy kids, three of whom are married adding two awesome sons-in-law and one awesome daughter-in-law to the family.

During our fabulous 36 year marriage Vicki (who passed away in 2013) was an avid artist and her drawings grace this blog.

Why hire a couple’s counselor? Couple conflict is unavoidable. Well managed conflict is a choice. I am skilled as both mediator and counselor and I coach you and your partner in effective conflict resolution skills—assertiveness, empathy, and active listening. By using innovative and proven techniques for resolution, I enable parties to build a bridge through conflict to reach the joy you desire. I am experienced, professional, creative, neutral, and relentless.

I help couples navigate these specific issues:

  • premarital counseling
  • finances
  • in-laws
  • broken trust
  • handling contentious ex spouses
  • blended families
  • parenting children and teens
  • step parenting
  • work stress
  • self employment stress
  • anger management
  • anxiety
  • emotional enmeshment
  • affair recovery
  • and more.
